CENTRE WELLINGTON – Centre Wellington Community Foundation (CWCF) is reaching out to the community to assist in its next transition.
J Raymond Soucy, the foundation’s first executive director, will be retiring at the end of this year and as a result, officials are announcing the search to find the right person to build on the tremendous organizational and community impact that Soucy has so ably spearheaded.
As the first paid staff member, Soucy has been instrumental in building a long-term institution.
Growing base
Financially, with the support of a growing donor base, funds have grown significantly, directly funding increased granting levels now and into the future.
Since its first grants about a decade ago, the community foundation has issued more than 230 grants, totalling over $1 million.
Community impact is increased by significant community-focused initiatives, including:
– starting to use Social Impact Investing, including for the local Habitat for Humanity build, adding to the agency’s overall capacity to deliver impact;
– by engaging leaders across nonprofits, local government and business and delivering two Vital Signs reports to help focus efforts where it really matters;
– early in the COVID pandemic, we similarly convened leaders to help deliver both local and federal funds to help support those serving the vulnerable in our community; and
– more recently, the foundation convened a forum with over 20 organizations to help respond to a growing crisis around food security in the community.
“We’ve come a long way in my almost eight years at CWCF,” says Soucy.
“I’m driven by a passion to have a direct hand in positively impacting my community. We are starting to hit our stride as an organization, and I am excited for what the next phase will bring.”

To lead through the next phase of growing impact, the foundation is seeking a passionate, community-minded and results-oriented executive director to build on its success to date.
