Councillors here are asking for an increased OPP presence at the intersection of Elora and Arthur Streets to monitor speeding.
The town’s public works committee recommended the increased presence be requested of the OPP.
The committee further recommended traffic turning signs be installed for left turns at the L&M grocery store parking lot off of Elora Street.
Deputy-mayor Judy Dirksen said she believes the sign was to be installed north of the intersection.
Sidewalk installation
Councillors here are also recommending a sidewalk be installed on Albert Street in Palmerston. along a section that crosses the old CN property.
Councillor Wayne Martin said it is a fairly well-used street for students for the public school and possibly for the high school.
He added the recommendation came from Public Works Director Norm Fisk.
Martin said one of the other things happening on the development former CN property is, “Now we’re doing a lighting plan.”
The lights will run to the one end, where the trail comes out. Therefore, he said, perhaps another light is needed and can be co-ordinated.
“But the basic thing is that there is a lot of traffic,” Martin said.
