CENTRE WELLINGTON — Red Plaid Productions & Ecclestone Financial Group bring the Mudmen’s 25th Anniversary Tour to the Fergus Grand Theatre on Nov. 4.
Mudmen are no strangers to the area with several performances at the Fergus Scottish Festival, the Guelph televised Special Olympic ceremonies, or opening up or performing with The Irish Rovers, Johnny Reid, The Chieftains and John McDermott at The Centre of The Square.
“It has been said that we Mudmen are the last of the stubborn survivors,” said bagpipe player for Mudmen Robby Campbell.
Mudmen have performed for the Queen of England with 70,000 people, and have also performed at an NHL event with a small rowdy crowd in a beer tent or bar.
“We have almost seen and done it all in our 25 years together, the good the bad and the other with Fergus being one of our favourite stops,” Campbell said.
“The small towns kept us alive. When we were dropped from our record deal label with no radio or tv support, the small towns supported us and kept us going and we will never forget that,” he added.
The Mudmen have had a lot of commercial success over the years with music featured on Hockey Night in Canada, 6 Don Cherry Rock’em Sock’em videos, HBO’S Shameless, NBC’s The Black Donnelly’s, WWE Wrestling, AE Sports games and Much Music/MTV reaching number 19 on the Edge Radio top 20 countdown.
The group has played over 3,000 shows to date in 8 different countries building a legion of fans from young to old.
“They’re Canada’s best Kept secret,” said Johnny Reid.
“They’re good Canadian boys,” Don Cherry said.
Walter Ostanek said he is proud of them and “you wont want to miss this all -ages concert.”
The Mudmen will be playing music from their 11 albums. Make sure to break out a plaid shirt to show support.
