GUELPH – There’s a lot going on at the University of Guelph on Sept. 9 that will interest nature lovers, tree lovers, and plant lovers.
The Arboretum is holding its Tree Day and Plant Sale, the Guelph Trial Garden is holding is open house, and the Urban Organic Farm is offering tours and a tool workshop.
Events are slated to run from 10am to 3pm on Sept. 9.
At the Arboretum
Visitors will experience some of the exciting research, teaching and partnerships taking place to support plants, trees, science and sustainability.
Arb Expo at the Arboretum Centre will host a plant sale and showcase activities, music, food, as well as campus and community groups.
Trial Garden open house
This year the event aligns with Guelph Trial Garden’s annual flower Open House, led by Rodger Tschanz.
The public is invited to view the new flower varieties in this year’s Trial Garden and vote on their favourites as well as participate in a houseplant/perennial plant sale and various activities at the Turfgrass Institute.
The day will be filled with many captivating activities including a flower arranging demo, Monarch butterfly rearing demo, houseplant and perennial sale and tours of turf research activities at the Turfgrass Institute.
Centre for Urban Organic Farming
The Guelph Centre for Urban Organic Farming is also offering garden tours, veggies and flowers, and a tool workshop.
