“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Mt. 11:28-30)
As my Heavenly Father’s spirit and energy flow through me, I am astonished at the ease by which I can actually live out his purposes. As I follow his plan, doing things his way, he, not I, becomes the dynamic that strives, influences, and draws me into himself.
He, not I, implements holiness and molds me to be what I am designed to be, thus bringing wholeness and completion to me and to my world.
He, the constant mentor, is there to reveal truth by directing me to the Father of truth. He, the constant mentor, is there to lead me to effectively serve him through practical Christ-like living.
He, the constant mentor, has essentially taken the place of the ascended Christ. Now, as my advocate, he looks after my interests in heaven and, as my comforter, he looks after Christ’s interests in me on earth.
• As the spirit of truth, he reveals, witnesses to, embodies and empowers me to implement the standards of truth.
• As the spirit of adoption, he places me as an adult, in partnership with himself, wherein he accomplished two things: first, he imparts a consciousness of my special status, and second, he qualifies me for that special status.
• As wind or breath, he constitutes the atmosphere in which I live and he is the power of redemption that penetrates and gives life.
• As fire, he warms, illumines, purifies, tests, releases energy and generates power.
• As water he purifies, refreshes, cleanses, and produces growth and fruitfulness.
• As oil, he nourishes and sustains, heals, and soothes, aiding in beauty, light and warmth.
• As wine, he frees me from restraints and inhibitions and makes me aggressively enthusiastic.
Take a moment to ponder this.
We will continue this conversation in my next article.
