Help shape future of Sensational Elora, fight food insecurity

ELORA – Sensational Elora has been working to reduce food insecurity in Centre Wellington for over 15 years.

As part of its current strategic planning process, the board wants to hear from the community about its efforts to create fun and engaging events that raise awareness about Centre Wellington and help raise funds for local food programs.

The award-winning Sensational Elora Festival organizes events throughout the year featuring the renowned music, art, drama, film, food, scenery and architecture of historic Elora.

Its efforts culminate during October with Monster Month and throughout Thanksgiving weekend with the Empty Bowls project, Pumpkin Day, and the Sensational Soup-off.

All events raise money and awareness for the fight against poverty and hunger throughout Centre Wellington.

The Sensational Elora board is excited to announce the launch of an online survey, designed to understand the community’s needs and gather suggestions for future events, officials stated.

They added the feedback will be instrumental in ensuring Sensational Elora events are meeting local needs and helping achieve their primary goal of raising money to reduce food insecurity.

“We believe in the power of community and value every single opinion that helps us to deliver more engaging, inclusive, and impactful events,” said Sensational Elora chair Kirk McElwain.

“By taking this survey, each participant actively supports our mission and brings us one step closer to making a tangible difference in the lives of those dealing with food insecurity.”

Those taking the survey will be contributing to a cause that directly benefits the community. They will also have the chance to win free tickets to 2024 events.

This is a great opportunity to help shape the upcoming Sensational Elora activities and win tickets to next year’s festival, officials say.

The online survey, accessible from any device, will take approximately four minutes to complete. Participants’ responses will remain confidential.

Sensational Elora invites everyone in Centre Wellington to participate, regardless of whether or not they have attended past events.

“Every voice counts in creating a strategic plan that will support the community’s diverse needs,” officials say.
