WELLINGTON COUNTY — On Aug. 27 from 1 to 4pm, the Wellington County Museum will be hosting its 47th annual Antique and Classic Car Show.
The event does not have any restrictions on what cars can be registered.
Vehicles can range from being antique, modern, a truck, motorcycle, etc.
“We just want to see what you find interesting on the front lawn,” said museum programming supervisor, Katie Clarke.
There is no cost to register your vehicle and no pre-registration, but registration begins at 11am. If you would like to put your vehicle up for a potential award, Clarke says to go up to registration and get a “dash card” which will allow those who are walking around to know what it is you are showing.
Registration will be as simple as showing up, parking your car on the lawn and visiting the people at the registration tent.
Clarke said it depends on the weather, but if there is no rain, they typically get quite a number of cars at registration.
“Last year, I think we had 390 cars,” she stated. “We probably had close to 1,000 people here last year.”
There will be three awards presented to vehicles at 3:30pm, and it is recommended that participants stay until then — however, it is not necessary. Awards will be announced for best finish, best in show and best interior.
As for the rest of the public, the show will begin at 1pm and Schmecken’s Barbeque from Guelph will be on-site with various types of barbecue and comfort food. Laza Food and Beverages from Guelph will also be on-site with ice pops and drinks.
The event will have entertainment from a local musician, and the museum will be open during the time of the car show. One of the current exhibits is from Rick Clark’s collection of Elvis and Coca Cola memorabilia.
Clarke says this collector’s exhibit fits in well with the car show being that it has a ‘50s theme to go along with some classic cars.
Information and a map of the site is on the Wellington County Museum and Archives website, and information about where to park is also located on the website’s event calendar.
