WILSON, Cory

Passed away at his home in Minto, unexpectedly of natural causes, on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the age of 33 years. Loving husband of Chantelle (Hartung) Wilson of Minto. Proud father of Hadley and Tate. Son of John and Cindy (Jones) Wilson of Edwards, and grandson of Russ Jones of Ottawa. Son-in-law of Leola and the late Don Hartung (2022) of Gowanstown. Brother of Jordan and Chelsey Wilson of Edwards, and brother-in-law of Luke and Crystal Hartung of Gowanstown, and Ben and Nathan Hartung-Flach of Calgary. Loved and remembered also by his aunts, uncles, cousins, niece and nephew, and his policing family in the OPP. Predeceased by grandparents Helen (Saunderson) Jones, and Lorne and Clara (Holden) Wilson. Cory always longed to serve his community, first as Ottawa bylaw, Ottawa fire, and then the OPP. Cory and Chantelle met in Ottawa and made the trip north to Kirkland Lake for Cory’s first detachment. Cory loved policing and the change he could make in his communities and beyond. Cory and Chantelle married & welcomed Hadley while up north and then moved south to Wellington County. Tate was born and the family was complete. Cory loved deeply for his children and was engaged and dedicated in their lives. He had many plans of coaching, camping, skiing and vacations. Cory was an avid outdoorsman’s and a bbq’ing and smoking connoisseur.  He lived his life fully. Visitation will be held at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Friday from 1:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Harriston United Church (57 Young St. W., Harriston) on Saturday, July 1st at 11:00am, with reception to follow at the legion. Donations for an education fund for Cory’s children (HadleyTateWilson@outlook.com) or to your local Humane Society in honour of Cory’s beloved Misum and the late Kenzo would be appreciated.
