Website offers residents updates on Paddock bridge replacement

PUSLINCH – The County of Wellington has created a website to allow residents to follow updates on the emergency bridge replacement project underway on Wellington Road 35.

The road was closed between Concessions 1 and 2 on May 12 as a result of a failure of a section of the Paddock Bridge deck.

The bridge was scheduled for replacement in 2024, however an emergency bridge replacement is now being planned. Tenders have been published for the project, with a closing date of July 6.

“It is anticipated that demolition will occur in July, with the road being reopened by the end of 2023,” county officials state.

Wellington Road 35 will remain closed to through traffic at the bridge location until the new bridge is constructed.

A June 26 update from the county’s roads engineering service notes a detour route taking traffic around the project site, utilizing Concession 1, Sideroad 20 South and Concession 2, has been amended to extend to Concession 7, with “local traffic only” signs on Sideroad 20 and Sideroad 25 South.
