VORKOETTER, Stefan Martin

September 22, 1964 - June 7, 2023

Taken far too young at 58 years old, after a two and a half year battle with Glioblastoma, an aggressive and incurable brain cancer. Stefan passed peacefully with his wife by his side at Innisfree House hospice in Kitchener. The world has lost a remarkable person. Stefan was a renaissance man, with multiple talents in mathematics, software and programming language development, electronics design and implementation, a Hammond organ restorer, synthesizer builder, keyboard and music enthusiast, private pilot for over 20 years, builder and flier of model airplanes, columnist for Sailplane and Electric Modeler magazine, skilled photographer, woodworker, collector and restorer of fountain pens, mechanical watches, vintage calculators, and slide rules, and a popular writer about his many interests and projects on his website stefanv.com. Stefan and his wife Lori lived their dream at Bluebird Lane, the horse breeding farm they designed, built, and operated near Moorefield Ontario. Stefan was an active partner in the care of the horses and the property and was known for his exceptional skills in grooming the horses, who achieved national championships and appeared many times in the centerfold and cover of Horse Illustrated and other magazines. Stefan loved coffee, his cats, his family, making puns, and the natural world. He was kind and generous with his time and talents, with many friends and colleagues worldwide who will miss him greatly. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Lori Albrough, his devoted parents Brigitte and Helmuth Vorkoetter, and dear sister and niece Shawna and Brianna Steckley.Memorial donations in Stefan’s name can be made to Innisfree House hospice.
