GUELPH – May 25 marked the opening of Portage Ontario’s Guelph office for youth and families living with substance use disorder.
This new satellite office allows Portage Ontario to extend its services outside of its residential centre in Elora, to help more youth living with addiction and mental health concerns.
This Community Outreach Program serves at-risk youth living with substance use disorder in the Guelph area, Wellington County, and neighbouring regions.
Experienced counsellors will be on-site weekdays for various support including:
– youth drop-ins;
– parent drop-ins;
– after school group;
– community liaison and
– consultation hours, parent support groups, and youth pre-care support.
Portage staff, and members of the community and related industries gathered at the new location on May 25 to celebrate the opening and heard a graduate and a parent speak about their experience at Portage.
This project is funded by Ontario Health West, to support the enhancement of mental health and addictions service delivery.
The funding is for programming designed to support at risk youth who are currently enrolled and attending school and is offered in partnership with the Integrated Youth Hub of Guelph/Wellington.
