Top anglers – For 41 years the village of Belwood has held a successful fishing derby. This year 597 participants took part and at the end of the day on May 28, 35 pike and 15 walleye were caught. “The fish seem to be getting smaller but there is still a good amount of them,” said Kristi Mercier who looked after all the data required for the competition. The $9,000 proceeds from the weekend were donated to Groves Memorial Community Hospital for the purchase of a warming blanket for the oncology department.
