Lions and walkers and dogs, oh my! – The annual Mount Forest Lions Club Guide Dog Walk was held on June 3. The local walk is part of a national campaign sponsored by Pet Valu, and is held across the country in various communities. In Mount Forest, it was only fitting that the event be held at William D. (Bill) Moody Lions Park on the day that the sign was rededicated to the memory of the longtime Lion who helped to start the Dog Guide Walk campaign. As of deadline, organizers reported donations exceeding $8,000 had been received, but more were still coming in, and online donations had yet to be counted. The club is very pleased with the amount since participation in the walk was down this year. The funds are used to provide guide dogs to assist with vision, hearing, seizure response, diabetic alert, autism assistance, and more, free of charge to anyone who requires them.
