was born on 8 June 1929 in London, England, one of five children of Arthur and Maude. He was evacuated early in the war, but later returned to work in the city and retained vivid memories of the period which he would share with his children. As a young man he joined the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy, and was stationed for a time in Malta. Married at a young age to Joyce Barbara Ling, the couple emigrated to Canada around 1953 and had two children, Martin and Rowena. While in Canada, he had a successful career in advertising and magazine publishing, as an executive, and later Vice President at Foster Advertising, publisher of Toronto Calendar Magazine, and finally as owner of Taylor Taylor Advertising. He was loved by clients and colleagues, many of whom remained close friends until the end of his life. While at Calendar Magazine, he met his second wife, Maureen Munro, with whom he had a son, Graham. Tragically, Maureen died in a car accident in 1985. Shortly after, he met and married Susan Chamberlain, with whom he lived for the rest of his life, happily working in his garden and spending time together in the Bahamas. Bill remained proudly English, returning in 1995 to celebrate VE Day with his brother and sister, and later to visit his many family members. Despite advancing Alzheimer’s, he celebrated his 90th birthday in London, before spending his final years at St. Joseph’s Care Home in Guelph. He is survived by his loving wife Susan, children Martin, Rowena and Graham (Venetia), grandchildren, Alana, Madeline, Audrey and Albert, and many nieces and nephews. Donations to The Alzheimer’s Society and Elora/Salem Horticultural Society would be greatly appreciated, in lieu of flowers. A celebration of life will be held in July and then interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. You have left a great void in our lives Bill – we love you, rest in peace.
