Barn quilt project – Building Bridges, which offers adult day programs in Palmerston, recently celebrated its one-year anniversary. The business’ mission statement is “to provide an inclusive program to adults diagnosed with a developmental disability.” Founder and program facilitator Sierra-Lynn Moreira and her clients have admired the many barn quilts going up around Minto and when offered the opportunity for her clients to paint their own so that they could be included on the local Barn Quilt Trail, there was no hesitation. “It met her goal for her clients to be active participants in our community,” says Bonnie Dofer of Barn Quilt Creations in Palmerston. Under the supervision of Dopfer, who designed the Building Bridges quilt, many clients displayed their creative talents and painted portions of the barn quilt over a period of several months. The completed barn quilt has been installed over the Building Bridges entry door at 155 William Street in Palmerston and officials invite the public to stop by and admire it.
