Board cutting – Instead of a ribbon, Ace Hardware has a tradition of sawing through a board to officially open its newest store locations. Although it has been open since December, the Arthur store celebrated its grand opening on April 29 with local politicians, including Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae and MP John Nater, and Ace Canada officials attending. The rainy day did not dampen spirits as a good-sized crowd was on hand to partake in free giveaways, draws, face painting, vendor meet-and-greets, demonstrations, plus a barbecue hosted by the local 4-H club. Wellington North Mayor Andy Lennox welcomed co-owners Doug and Barrie Eidt to the community. Free face painting added a splash of colour to the festivities.
