“GRUMPY” It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of John Henry MacLeod at the age of 69. Survived by his wife Melanie and daughters Elena (Brian), Laura (Allan), Carolyn and Katie (dog). Affectionately called “Grumpy” by his grandchildren Brayden, Connor, Angel (predeceased 2016), Nalla and Dawn. The title “Grumpy” came naturally to him. Born in Milton in 1953 to Gerald and Jessie (Brims) MacLeod. Brother to Harlan. Predeceased by his parents Gerald (2010) and Jessie (2003). Born and raised on a farm near Acton and because of his farm background, John could fix or “Mickey Mouse” almost anything. He also had a great knowledge of animals. This came in handy when John and his wife had their own farm where they enjoyed raising cows, a horse, pigs, chicken and sheep. As well as working on a farm, he worked as a big rig truck driver delivering steel joists for CanAm Steel for over 25 years. In his spare time, he liked to fish, hunt, read, do crosswords and was always down for a game of euchre. John also helped his daughters develop a love for the game of baseball. He was a tough coach demanding nothing less than 110% effort. With his wife, John enjoyed going to watch his grandsons play baseball and hockey. At home, he enjoyed having his grandchildren over and watching them ride the quad, jump on the trampoline and play in the yard. John will be remembered for his willingness to help others, his laugh, moustache and sarcastic sense of humour. Remember life is precious, hug your loved ones. As per John’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held at the MacKinnon Family Funeral Home, 55 Mill St. E., Acton, on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 6-8pm. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
