ERIN – There are 19 community organizations receiving funding from Erin’s 2023 community grant budget.
Each year, the town grants successful applicants funds from its community grants budget, totalling $20,500.
A committee — consisting of Mayor Michael Dehn, councillor Jamie Cheyne, CAO Nathan Hyde, infrastructure director Nick Colucci and finance director Wendy Parr — evaluated 25 applications last month seeking a total of $50,405.
Council approved the committee’s recommendation the town’s full grant budget be divvied out across 19 chosen applicants.
The recipients are:
• Erin-Hillsburgh Minor Hockey, $2,675 for lowering registration fees and funding player training;
• Erin District Lions Club, $2,000 for Santa Claus Parade and walk for guide dogs;
• Erin Tennis Club, $1,750 for conversion of a court to pickelball and to purchase and install nets;
• Erin Air Cadets, $1,500 to purchase sports equipment and supplies, and to fund social outings and field trips;
• Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington, $1,500 to pay for school meals;
• Hillsburgh Erin Skating Club, $1,500 for an annual ice skating show and to teach skaters;
• Erin Farmers’ Market, $1,375 for marketing;
• Hillsburgh District Lions Club, $1,000 for supplies to upgrade the Victoria Park ice rink;
• Over Here Community Arts Adventure, $1,000 for startup costs;
• Erin Agricultural Society, $1,000 to upgrade an entrance for accessibility;
• Erin Arts Foundation, $1,000 for a rental payment to operate at the Centre Church Theatre in Hillsburgh;
• Rotary Club of Erin, $600 for Family Day events;
• The Grove Cemetery, $600 for care and maintenance;
• Erin Horticultural Society, $500 for garden club plant and flower care;
• Erin Village Quilters, $500 to support programming;
• Erin Seed Library, $500 for seeds, soil, marketing, travel and workshops;
• Hillsburgh Horticultural Society and Garden Club, $500 for garden maintenance and funding guest speakers;
• Sherry Fraser Memorial Ball Tournament, $500 for expenses, diamond rental, and donation; and
• Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dufferin and District, $500 for program meetings, monthly event, and activities.
