In his customarily inconvenient fashion, Raymond Douglas Trafford got diagnosed with terminal cancer, was expected to survive for weeks, and unceremoniously left the world a few days later at 68 years of age, on January 26th, 2023. He is predeceased by his wife, Deborah, his parents, and his sisters Maria and Helena. He is survived by his best friend, Beth; his children, Joelle (Dion), Jeff (Christa) and Ben (Melody); his stepson, Jordan (Emma); his grandchildren: Christian, Aaron, Blair, Sage, Callan, and River; his siblings Anne, Corinne, and Ronald; a legion of nieces and nephews; many friends (by which we mean “golf cronies”); and the various children he helped during his long career as a child therapist. Later, he was a long haul trucker, and honestly, what was up with that? He recently ran for election to public office, returning to his roots of serving his community. Let it never be said that he was boring and predictable. A visitation, service, and reception was held on Monday, January 30th, at 11am at the Giddy Funeral Home at 280 David Street South in Fergus, Ontario. Internment beside Deborah occured at the Grove Cemetery at 129 York Road in Dundas, Ontario, on Tuesday, January 31st at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Groves Hospital Foundation in Fergus, Ontario would be appreciated, in recognition of the sensitivity, care, and professionalism they demonstrated in easing his transition.
