Student-led Christmas Giving Project a big success at Mary Phelan CS

GUELPH – Students from Mary Phelan Catholic School collected donations and toys for their annual Christmas Giving Project.

“For more than seven years, Mary Phelan has been supporting the Guelph Children’s Foundation’s Adopt-A-Family program to help bring hope and joy to families in need,” shared principal Elizabeth Green.

“This year, through our Christmas Giving Project, we were able to raise $1,020 and collected 48 toys.”

Organized by Mary Phelan’s “Christmas Elves” Logan, Sophia, Cassidy, Julianna, and Evan, along with teachers Ms. Contini, Mrs. Barbosa, and Mrs. Landoni, the Christmas Giving Project is near and dear to them.

“I think it is important to be part of the Christmas Giving Project because all of the toys are going to kids in need, and it can make a child’s Christmas,” shared Cassidy.

“It is nice to help people out during the holiday season,” added Julianna.

The students organized the campaign over the last few weeks, with keen response from the school community.

“I am always so amazed at the generosity of our families,” said Green. “We are definitely the small school with a big heart.”

Although the Christmas Giving Project has now come to an end at Mary Phelan CS, the Children’s Foundation is still collecting donations for families.
