Journey to Bethlehem, Christmas parade part of busy weekend in Alma community

ALMA – The community of Alma is hosting a Journey to Bethlehem live nativity event this week.

The event runs Dec. 15, 16 and 17 from 6 to 8pm at the Alma Community Centre and Wallace Cumming Park.

The 45-minute interactive journey begins inside the hall and continues outdoors with a walk through the park, finishing back inside where attendees can warm up with hot chocolate and cookies.

“Enjoy the busyness of the marketplace. Listen to the exciting news the angels will share” organizers urge.

“Join the shepherds and the wise men in search for the King. Re-imagine that holy night and reflect on the birth of the baby who came to change the world and what that might mean for you today.”

Admission is free, but monetary donations to the Centre Wellington Food Bank are appreciated.

Attendees are reminded to dress warmly to enjoy the outdoor portion of the event.

Santa Claus parade

The annual Santa Claus parade also takes place in Alma this weekend.

“Peace on Earth” will be the theme, as Wellington County’s final Christmas parade of the season winds its way through the village on Dec. 18.

The parade begins at 2pm.

Sunday fun also includes a Breakfast with Santa hosted by the Alma Optimist Club from 8 to 10:30am at the community centre.
