It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Adam Lockhart on October 24, 2022 in his 49th year. He will be dearly missed by his wife Catherine of 26 years and his children Lauren and Brandon, who he adored. Beloved son of Murry and Ellen Lockhart and mother-in-law Elly Pennings. Dear brother to Alison (Colin) McGregor and brother-in-law to Adriaan (Jackie) Pennings, Peter (Kelly) Pennings, Annette Pennings-Brown and Derek (Lee Ann) Pennings. Special uncle to Ciarra, Savanna, Owenn, Brinlee, Jordan, Samantha, David, Benjamin, Mitchell, Jack, Sylvan and Nora Rey. Adam is predeceased by his father-in-law Pieter Pennings and brother-in-law Chris Brown. Adam grew up in Singhampton area when he enjoyed working on local farms, snowmobiling, playing hockey and time with friends. Adam completed the Agriculture Business course at Centralia with the hopes of getting into dairy farming. After marrying Catherine, his high school sweetheart, the cards had other plans and the couple moved to Elmira where Adam started working for his uncles Don and Jack at D&J Lockhart Excavators. Adam was ambitious and wanted a business to call his own, so after 9 years in Elmira the family moved to Singhampton where Adam worked for Ferris Trucking and Excavating. Eventually he purchased a backhoe and a dump truck, working weekends to build his name in the construction industry. In 2014, an opportunity arose where Adam, along with his cousin Rob, made the decision to become the successors of D&J Lockhart Excavating. The business continued to be successful and grew over the years. Adam was a wonderful mentor to his children and the love he shared with his wife was truly one of a kind. He believed in giving second chances, and would do anything to help his family, a friend or neighbor. His wit and kindness will be missed by many who knew him. We invite you to a drop-in Celebration of Life for Adam on November 6th, 2022 from 2 – 5pm at the Elora Grandway, 7445 Wellington County Rd 21, Elora, with a short presentation at 3pm.
