Our dear Mom passed away peacefully with family by her side, on Friday, October 21st 2022, in her 93rd year at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus, Ontario. Gwen and Garnet (predeceased in 2013) were married for 63 years. Gwen was mother to: Jim Wilson, Barbara (Harold) Jones, Glenna (Bob) Tosh, Sherley Pero, Franklyn (CarolAnne) Wilson, Diane (predeceased Theodore Oei) Wilson, Ralph (Gloria) Wilson, Stan Wilson, Trevor (Toni) Wilson, Donna (Mike) Manser. Grandma to 19 grandchildren: Scott (Danielle), Jayson (Mandy) & Mark (Tracey) Jones, Tara (Patrick) Brossard, Richard Tosh & Nathan (Katya) Tosh, Jonathan (Eva) & Matthew (Andrea) Pero, Shayne (Danielle) & Ashlyn Wilson, Jeremiah Oei, Darryl (Amy) & Curtis (Amelia) Wilson, Ryan Wilson, Josh (Lindsay), Tyler (Becky) & Brandon (Amy) Wilson, and Myla & Shayna Manser. Great Grandma to 26: Chase & Blake Jones, Nixon & Jacob Jones, Hayden & Hudson Jones, Cedric, Vienne & Vince Tosh, Elsie, Garnett, Coulter, Caleb, Nathaniel & Jonis Tosh, Carl & Scottlyn Wilson, Abby, Gavin & Levi Wilson, Alyssa, Paige & Maeve Wilson, Connor Wilson, Oceana & Leah Wilson. Gwen was the second youngest of the late Frank & Lillian (Howell) Davis. Sister to Bruce Davis, predeceased by siblings Molly (Gerald) Westcott, Joan (Keith) Miller, Richard (Jeanette) Davis, Leonard (Joyce) Davis and infant sister Beryl. Survived by sisters-in law, Minnie McNeish, Vietta Watson and Nora Gray. Gwen was raised on a farm near Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan until moving with her family to Ontario at the age of 8. She grew up on the family farm in Brechin later moving to Toronto to attend business school. She married Garnet in Toronto and lived there until 1954 when they moved to their farm on the 6th line of West Luther. She raised her family and lived on the farm for the next 68 years. Gwen was active with the Gordonville Ladies Auxiliary, Damascus Women’s Institute and instrumental in creating the area Historical Tweedsmir Book. She was a seamstress, a lover of history, art and her ancestral roots. Whether it was working with fabric, writing or baking, her creative spark shown through. But most of all she was a mother, who devoted herself to her family, her grandkids and great grandkids. We would like to thank the staff at Groves Memorial Hospital for their compassion and special care for Mom and accommodating our family during her stay. Visitation was at the Crawford Funeral Chapel, 243 George St. Arthur, ON Tuesday, October 25th 2022 from 5:00 – 8:00pm. Funeral Service was held at the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 149 Frederick St. E, Arthur, Ontario on Wednesday, October 26th 2022 at 11:00am followed by Interment at the Greenfield Cemetery, Hwy #6, Arthur. Refreshments were served at St. John’s Parish, 150 Georgina St. Arthur, ON. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Gordonville Presbyterian Church or Groves Memorial Hospital Fund, in Mom’s memory.
