They lived in Harriston where she ran a kindergarten in their home until the new elementary school was built. She then turned her attention to being the local Girl Guide leader. With two sons, the family moved to Listowel in 1964 and soon welcomed a baby daughter. Erland was always active. She loved music and enjoyed the company of the Sweet Adeline chorus and formed a quartet. Gardening was a lifetime passion and she was highly active in the Horticultural Society in Listowel, organizing many garden tours. She was highly social and enjoyed her years working at the gift shop at Hay’s and at Gemini Jewellers. She was a key organizer of a couple of Listowel Day at the Skydome trips that involved busloads of local Blue Jay fans. Erland did allow herself some downtime and was a prolific knitter and loved to read.
