Circular Fashion Festival making sustainability stylish with swap/sale

GUELPH – The Guelph Tool Library announces the Circular Fashion Festival, a mix of virtual and in person events that will host Guelph’s Largest Clothing Swap and Sale this October.

The Guelph Tool Library is excited to present its first ever Circular Fashion Festival, a week-long event that coincides with Waste Reduction Week, a national movement that brings together youth, educators, policy makers, businesses and communities.

The Circular Fashion Festival advocates for slow fashion, skill sharing and the circular economy.

The festival will take place Oct. 17 to 23 at various locations downtown Guelph and on virtual platforms. Guests can pre-register online through Eventbrite.

The event provides the community with easy ways to take action, helping the Guelph Tool Library achieve its mission of building community resilience by engaging its members in sharing knowledge, skills and resources. Tool library staff and volunteers will be collecting gently used clothing for the swap starting this week.

Donations can be dropped off during regular hours at their location in Old Quebec Street, and clothing should be in wearable condition without rips or stains.

There is no minimum or maximum donation size for participating in the swap. Contributions to the swap will be accepted up until Oct. 15, and clothing will be sorted by size. The organization is also looking to borrow garment racks and hangers, as they expect to receive over 2,000 items of clothing.

A full schedule of events, along with ticket and registration details, can be found at  https://guelphtoollibrary.org/circular-fashion-festival.

The event is supported by an Ontario Trillium Foundation Resilient Communities grant.
