FERGUS – The Fergus Legion was one of several groups in the area to offer a ceremony on Monday in memory of Queen Elizabeth ll.
The colour guard from Royal Canadian Legion Fergus Branch 275 was on hand for the service at the Fergus cenotaph, which included a message of remembrance by Legion President Brian Bielby and a prayer by Chaplain Canon Fran Darlington.
Several dignitaries laid wreaths at the cenotaph during the ceremony, which also included the singing of God Save the King and a lament by the Fergus Pipe Band.
Following the Sept. 19 ceremony, attendees were invited to place poppies on the main wreath.
