WELLINGTON COUNTY – Confirmed COVID-19 cases continue to drop significantly in the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) region, while local hospitalizations are down slightly.
As of Sept. 14, there are 159 confirmed active cases in the region, down 24% from 209 on Sept. 7.
In Wellington County, there are 39 known active cases, down 48% from 75 a week ago.
In Dufferin County there are 34 active cases (basically unchanged from 35 on Sept. 7) and in Guelph there are 80 (down from 98).
True case numbers are likely five times what is reported, according to Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore.

Hospitalizations
As of Sept. 14, there are 20 people hospitalized across the region who tested positive for COVID-19, down slightly from 23 on Sept. 1.
The number of COVID-positive individuals admitted to ICUs remains at one (unchanged since Aug. 28).
Vaccinations
As of Sept. 14, 56.6% of residents aged 12 and older across the health region have received at least three vaccine doses, 84.3% of those aged six months and older have received two doses, and 87% have received a single dose.
At the county level, 56.8% of Wellington residents aged 12 and older have received at least three vaccine doses, 82.6% of those six months and older have had two doses, and 85% have received a single dose.
Deaths
As of Sept. 14, a total of 173 deaths across the WDGPH region have been attributed to COVID-19, including 57 in Wellington County.
Outbreaks
As of Sept. 9, there were two active COVID-19 outbreaks at health care facilities in the region, including a facility-wide outbreak in the county at Highland Manor retirement home, declared Aug. 21.
