MINTO – The Town of Minto and local downtown revitalization committees are planning Newcomers’ Welcome Receptions in all three urban communities (Clifford, Palmerston, Harriston).
The events offer residents who have recently moved to the area a chance to socialize, meet members of local community groups, churches and businesses, and ask questions.
“We are excited to bring back the social aspect to next month’s celebrations, after hosting last year’s receptions as ‘pop-ups,’” said Minto marketing and community development coordinator Erin Raftis.
“We can’t wait to meet everyone who has moved to the area recently, answer questions, and get you connected to the Minto community,” she added.
Various community groups, churches and businesses will be set up for newcomers to meet and learn more about and representatives of the Town of Minto will be available to answer questions and hand out welcome bags, as well as recycling and organic bins for those who have not picked theirs up already.
Palmerston’s reception will be Sept. 11 from noon to 2pm at the Palmerston Lions Park Pavilion and feature a free barbecue lunch hosted by the Palmerston Lions.
Clifford’s event will be on Sept. 15th from 6 to 8pm in Celebration Square and include a barbecue hosted by Clifford Rotary.
In Harriston, the event will be held in conjunction with the Harriston-Minto Fall Fair, at the Harriston-Minto Community Complex on Sept. 16 from 6 to 8pm. Snacks will be provided.
Each event will also feature live music by local artist Juanita Wilkins.
Those interested in attending must pre-register on Eventbrite. More information can be found by following @allaboardpalmerston, @cliffordconnects, and @harristonrising on social media or visiting each downtown organization’s website.
