ERIN – The Erin Garden Club is holding a free, self-guided garden tour on Aug. 20 from 10am to 4pm.
9 Aspen Court
Everything to see on this property has been planted by the owner Edward Delaporte. When he bought the property in 1996, it was a blank canvas. The gardens on this single-acre lot are 99% perennials, consisting of 173 different varieties of hostas, over 30 types of daylilies, clematis, peonies, hibiscus, sedums, delphiniums, and Asiatic lilies.
Delaporte has designed a formal garden levelling the property and pulling admirers in from one garden to another. There are 109 boxwoods used in the “knot” central planting—all grown from cuttings. Delaporte’s favourite spot is a secret garden, where visitors will be rewarded with a surprise.

There are two dahlia fields to tour where Cathy Aylard has been growing flowers for five years. Wear sturdy footwear across uneven paths to the fields. Park by the house and text 647-882-4996 on arrival.
1 Ross St., Erin
(Main and Ross streets)
Sue and Robert Braiden have been at this house for 45 years. However, the garden has changed over the years. This garden is a combination vegetable and perennial garden with both sunny and shady areas. There is also an enclosed sitting area in the courtyard with shrubs and hostas.

Sandra Williamson’s garden is hidden by the surrounding forest and sits on 12 acres on the Escarpment. She loves almost all plants and just can’t seem to stop collecting—like all gardeners, it is a love affair with nature.
