Peacefully on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Strathcona Long Term Care, Mount Forest, in his 96th year. Beloved husband of the late Iva MacDonald (neé Whetham) and dear friend of the late Valerie Dickey. Loving father of Doug (Ruth) MacDonald of Mount Forest, Doris Carmount of Mount Forest, and Murray (Patti) MacDonald of Waterford. Predeceased by his son Eldon, son-in-law Dave, and four brothers: Arnold, Russell, Gladwyn and Ken. Survived by 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Ross was a lifetime resident of Mount Forest whose passion was farming. He had a great love of horses, especially his team of Belgians – King and Barney. He was regularly seen pulling floats in various local parades and was in great demand for his winter sleigh rides. He had a variety of jobs throughout his lifetime – CN Express deliveryman, auxiliary police officer, arena manager, billiard hall owner, restaurant owner, farmers market manager (who made the best hot dogs ever), building inspector and by-law officer. A heartfelt thank you to the staff of Strathcona Long Term Care for their excellent care and compassion. The funeral service will be held at Mount Forest United Church, 175 Queen Street East, Mount Forest, on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 12 noon, with visitation from 10:30-11:45AM.
