Police provide update on bank robbery investigation

HARRISTON – The investigation into an armed robbery here has expanded and police have released images of three masked suspects.

On the afternoon of June 22, police responded to an armed bank robbery at the Elora Street South RBC bank in Harriston.

Details released several hours after the robbery were few, but according to the Wellington County OPP three people armed with handguns entered the bank that Wednesday and threatened staff and customers, stealing “a quantity of currency” before fleeing south on Elora Street in a silver sedan.

A June 29 press release revealed the vehicle used in the crime was a silver or grey 2012 Chevrolet Cruze.

“This vehicle was reported to have been stolen in Halton on June 21 and recovered in Mississauga on June 24,” states the release.

Police have now released still images captured by surveillance cameras in the bank during the robbery.
