New COVID-19 outbreak declared as cases remain steady

WELLINGTON COUNTY – There are 94 confirmed active cases of COVID-19 throughout the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) region as of June 22, up slightly from 88 a week ago.

As of June 22, there are 18 known active cases in Wellington County (down from 20 on June 15), 20 in Dufferin County (up from 18), and 54 in Guelph (up from 48).

Hospitalizations

The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 across the WDGPH region has not been updated since May 31, when it was five (none in an ICU).

Vaccinations

Across the WDGPH region, as of June 22, there are 157,673 people (59.5% of those 12 and older) who have received three vaccine doses and 258,151 people (88.9% of those five and older) who have received two doses.

At the county level, as of June 22, there are 50,311 people in Wellington (60.4% of those 12 and older) who have received three vaccine doses, 80,190 people (87.4% of those five and older) who have received two doses, and just over 2,000 have received a single dose.

Deaths

There have been no new deaths reported in several weeks. To date, a total of 162 deaths across the WDGPH region have been attributed to COVID-19.

Outbreaks

A new COVID-19 outbreak was declared at the Heritage River Retirement Residence in Elora on June 17.
