Grand opening – Groves Memorial Community Hospital officially opened its Memorial Forest, located behind the hospital, on June 9 with about 100 donors and those associated with the project present to celebrate. The forest was the brainchild of the Grand River Agricultural Society, which donated $250,000 for materials.
The Elora-Salem Horticultural Society planted a pollinator garden near the forest, and there’s a gazebo for patients, staff and visitors in this healing garden.
“It was quite a wasteland before we started,” said Deborah Whale, vice president of the ag society. “As these plants grow-in and develop, it will be spectacular.”
Hospital CEO and president Angela Stanley thanked both groups, as well as the donors, whose financial donations have helped purchase equipment for the hospital.
