Edna Marie (Heighes) Lyon passed away at Strathcona Long Term Care, Mount Forest on Sunday, June 12, 2022, in her 102nd year. Wife of the late Boyd L. Lyon, and sister of Roy Heighes of Harriston. She was predeceased by her sister Ethel Edwards, brothers Cecil Heighes and wife Theresa, Elvin Heighes, and Harold Heighes and his wife Marion, sister-in-law Edna Heighes, and parents Herbert and Bernice Heighes. Edna was an excellent baseball player on a successful team in Harriston, where she also began her training at Homuth’s to become an Optician. After spending some time in California she moved to Anchorage, Alaska. She ran two optician stores, one in Anchorage and one in Homer. At her home on the Kenai River in Alaska she canned and smoked Red Salmon that she had caught on her doorstep. Upon her retirement, after many years in the north she made her way back to Harriston to be with her family. Edna led a full and interesting life with many good friends and lived to the remarkable age of 101. She will be missed by many. Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston with interment in Thornbury Clarksburg Union Cemetery, Thornbury.
