WELLINGTON COUNTY – Current Children’s Early Years Division director Luisa Artuso is taking over the role of social services administrator following Eddie Alton’s retirement announcement last month.
Alton has worked in municipal government for four decades, holding positions in finance, public health, and social services.
He spent the last 14 years serving as Wellington County’s social services administrator.
“During Eddie’s 14 years at the county he has helped build new child care centres, increased affordable housing stock and prepared for the transformation of Ontario Works delivery,” CAO Scott Wilson stated in a June 7 press release.
“Eddie has participated on many community committees representing the county and his sector. He has served on the Ontario Municipal Social Services Association Board and his advice is sought by others across the province as social services delivery issues arise.”
Wilson added, “I would like to congratulate Eddie on his well-deserved retirement.”
Alton is assisting Artuso with her transition to her new role over the summer.
She began working at the county in 1989 and has held roles within the social services portfolio for over two decades.
“Luisa’s tremendous work ethic and dedication will ensure her success as social services administrator,” Wilson stated.
July 29 will be Alton’s last day with the county.
