WELLING NORTH – Residents here might have noticed an increase in last month’s electricity bill.
That’s because the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) approved an application from Wellington North Power (WNP), submitted in November, to increase its rates three per cent.
The increase took effect in May.
“This application is an inflation adjustment,” states a quarterly shareholder update from WNP.
Customers using 750 kWh of energy in a billing cycle will notice an increase of $5.08, according to the OEB.
The increase does not include taxes, nor does it account for the 17% Ontario Electricity Rebate applied to most electrical bills.
Summer “time-of-use” periods and “tiered pricing” thresholds are now in effect until Oct. 31.
