DRAYTON – The Drayton Rotary Club, of District 6330, is bringing back its successful Cruise Nights car shows this summer.
There will be four car shows, held on the first Monday of June, July, August, and September.
The season launching event is coming up June 6 in Kinsmen Park, 36 Elm Street in Drayton, and will run from 4 to 8pm. Attendees will get a first-hand view of classic vehicles and hot rods as well as some great food and live music.
“A shift in venue was necessary for the car show this year. Come out and see some spectacular cars, meet your neighbours, enjoy the live music and take in the food trucks,” said Drayton Rotary Club president Bob Bignell.
He thanked all of the volunteers for “taking this event to a new level” this year.
“Proceeds raised go a long way to fund Rotary projects. We look forward to seeing you at our four Rotary Cruise Nights and mark your calendars for the official opening of Rotary Park and 75th Anniversary event on July 16,” he added.
Cruise Nights will also feature live music performed by the Rogerson Family and the Nelsons. Food will be available from Hometown Hot Dogs and Big Jerk Smokehouse. Admission is by donation to the Rotary Club and registration to have a vehicle in the show is $10. The Drayton Food Bank will also be accepting non-perishable food items.
Car show committee chair Christian Giffin has been working with Ron Ellis, Ray Ellis, Allan Cherrey, Warren Jack, Richard Brimblecombe and Ab Hesselink, who have put together ideas and prizes for participants and attendees.
“Ron Ellis and his team have done an amazing job”, said Giffin.
“They have put together the entertainment, sourced advertising and participation, not to mention all the great prizing they have come up with.”
