Dear Editor:
On May 5 we had the groundbreaking ceremony for the local Harriston Lions Medical Centre expansion.
Because of the lovely weather, we had the privilege to see this event unfolding from our backyard deck.
It was a nice social gathering with quite a number of people in attendance, talking, shaking hands, standing close together and not wearing masks (with a few exceptions).
To my surprise and astonishment, I came across a local news picture in which all the people holding the shovels, local town councillors, mayor, etc., without any exception, were now wearing a masks!
I’m confused and wondering why the masks came on only in front of the camera.
It is my understanding that mask mandates are over, there is no need for it anymore and certainly not when we’re outside.
Would it not be great if there would be some leadership with a clear message.
Afien Vandenberg,
Harriston
