Obituary

Today the world is a little less civil. It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family announces Phyllis (Kay) Sedman has passed peacefully at Hospice Wellington on May 15th, 2022 in her 86th year. Phyllis was the loving mother to her son Peter and his wife Julie, cherished grandmother of Scott and dear aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews. Beloved wife of the late Noel Sedman, she was also predeceased by her parents Arthur and Daisy Turton and her sister Theresa. “Our Phyl” was born on January 11th 1937 in Bristol, England. She was the younger of two daughters for Arthur and Daisy. She lost her Dad at an early age, but the Turton girls and their mother remained close throughout their lifetime. She had a great passion for her family and will always be remembered for her kind smile and generosity of spirit. As it was her nature, she was steadfast in her resolve being a caregiver for both her mum and her husband giving them comfort in their final days. It was in Bristol where she met her one true love Noel, and in 1958 they married. Side by side for 62 years they were truly two halves of a whole. Her son Peter was her pride and her joy, no mother could have loved her son more. She welcomed both her daughter in law Julie and her son Scott into the family as her own. Together they spent many cherished times together enjoying numerous outings. These are the memories that will be held close. Above all Kay loved her family with every ounce of her being. Her final 10 years brought her to the town of Clifford to be closer to her son and daughter in law. In England she started a career in banking and continued in this industry when Kay and her young family immigrated to Canada in 1965. Taking a break from banking, she worked alongside her husband at their travel agency, Noel Sedman Travel Service. When her husband retired and sold the travel business, she returned to the banking world and worked as a supervisor until her retirement. Respecting Kay’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date, with interment in Clifford Cemetery. In lieu of donations, Kay would want you to express your love to those you hold dear. Time is one of the greatest gifts we can give to our loved ones. She was deeply loved by many and will truly be missed. The family would like to offer a sincere and special thank you to all the staff and volunteers at Wellington Hospice who were able to provide such loving care to Kay in her final weeks.
