Caught the ace – Harriston Legion Branch 296 held the final draw for its second Catch the Ace event on May 5. The first ticket drawn determined a weekly prize winner and the second ticket drawn produced the ace of spades and a progressive jackpot winner.
The following day, the Catch the Ace Committee presented progressive jackpot winner Brad Bender and his wife Anne McGlynn from Wroxeter, with a cheque for $29,278. Bender bought his ticket from Harriston Packers. He chose envelope number 48 which contained the ace of spades. The first ticket drawn belonged to Rhonda Cherrey. She chose envelope number 51 which contained the eight of diamonds. Cherrey won the weekly prize of $2,221.
“Congratulations to all of our winners and a big thank you to all the people that purchased tickets and, of course, our vendors who so graciously sold them on our behalf,” Legion officials state.
