Kathy passed away on April 24th in her home in Palmerston Ontario. Beloved daughter of the late Shirley Schieck (2022) and Allan Schieck (1986). Loved sister of Jeffrey Schieck of Guelph, Linda Johnson of London, and Stephen and Heather Schieck of Moorefield. Loving aunt of Emily Schieck and Matthew Schieck and his fiancé Natasha; Robert Johnson; Joshua Christie and Caleb Schieck. She will be dearly missed by Julie Johnson. Fondly remembered by her Uncle Grant Schieck and the late Aunt Edith and Aunt Lela Carley and the late Uncle Elgin. Kathy was in her 63rd year and had a number of health challenges, particularly in the last few years after a serious car accident. She endured more constant daily pain and suffering than most of us will ever know or comprehend. Never the less, Kathy never really complained, somehow always keeping her smile, quick wit and sense of humour through it all. Kathy insisted on maintaining her independence, staying in her home and living out her life in the most positive and best way she could. Kathy had tremendous compassion for people, particularly those that came from difficult circumstances. She believed in second chances and that people, although often flawed, were mostly good if given the chance. Kathy was perfectly suited for her work as a youth probation officer and helped many young people turn their lives around. Time spent with close friends and family was precious to Kathy and she always enjoyed bringing people together for social events and family gatherings absolutely loving to cook for everyone. Kathy had a kind heart, never intentionally hurt anyone, and always tried to help others where she could which showed through in her involvement in a number of organizations including 4-H, the London Adult Basic Education program, the Wellington County Literacy Council and the Rural Women’s Shelter to name a few. Kathy was drawn to social work and received a degree in Social Development Studies that she put to good use supporting developmentally challenged adults through much of her career. Kathy’s work path progressed where she finished her career as a Youth Probation Officer. Kathy will be sorely missed by her family, close friends and many coworkers, but at least now her physical pain and suffering in this life is over. To honour Kathy’s wishes there will be a private family service in Bethesda Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Palmerston Firefighters Association through the Town of Minto would be appreciated by the family.
