Curling club – At the end of each curling season at the Fergus Curling Club a bonspiel (tournament) is held for curlers to group together for one last game to celebrate the past season. This year it was a new game entirely, even though curling rules still prevail. There were lots of piggies to knock down, sticks to throw stones at and a chance to win a prize for the best costume.
Chief ice maker Andy Maine and the ice making crew created the game called “1834Kurlkoob” and the name of the bonspiel is the “Ice Makers Mayheim Bonspiel.” For those who came out dressed in Viking garb, it was a day of camaraderie on April 23 along with a whole lot of fun.
The trophy winners for the first annual were, from left: Marc Jagt, chief ice maker for the club; Maine, who also was the host for the day; J. Ferguson; Bryce McGowan and Rick Marshall.
