LYONS, Marguerite (Marnie) Louise

Of Erin passed away Sunday, March 27th at Eden House Care Facility in her 93rd year. Mom leaves behind Louise Churchill (Terry) of Guelph, Lorrie Scott (George) of Erin, Leone Farrell (Grant) of Erin, Leeann Ford (Dave) of Hillsburgh, Lenita Sibbald (Scott) of Hillsburgh, Leo Lyons (Karen) of Fergus, and Leverne Lyons of Erin. Mom had 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren with more on the way. Mom was married to Norrie Kennedy in 1948 and Louise was born to them late the following year. Norrie was killed in a tragic construction accident in June 1950. Mom later met Albert Leo Lyons and they were married in 1959. Over the next number of years they welcomed 6 children (two sets of twins and two singletons!). To pay the bills dad owned five buses to get children to and from school. With their house and hands full, mom and dad also kept up with two mail routes. Sadly & suddenly, dad died of a heart attack in 1974. Louise at this point was married and had started a teaching career. This left mom to raise 6 kids between the ages of 11 and 14 by herself. Now we see where we get our strength from. After raising her small troop of children, mom kept busy working odd jobs around Erin, delighted in her many grandchildren, tended to her beautiful gardens, and completed many, many puzzles & crosswords fuelled by endless cups of coffee (after all, water is for washing floors, she’d say!). Her laughter and sense of humour were second to none. She lived for her family and will be truly missed. Mom, through MacIntyre Gilbert & Son Funeral Home in Guelph was cremated. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Many thanks to all of the staff, doctors, nurses, and PSW’s at Eden House. You made mom’s time there so enjoyable. We will forever be grateful for your love and care. Donations can be made to the Salvation Army, as they did so much to get mom through challenging times in her younger years.
