Donna Spies was born in 1945 on the family farm near Alma. She attended the one room school at Creekbank and Elora High School. Always marching to her own drummer, Donna left home in search of adventures that eventually led her to British Columbia. She relished the challenges of unconventional work, including being the first woman to work Traffic Control on the Lower Mainland. Donna collected friends where ever she lived. She was a voracious reader, a collector of unusual things and a lover of all four legged animals. She will be greatly missed by her husband Ross Button and their community of friends in Ollalla, B.C. The circle of sisters has been broken, leaving Lori Monte of Rockwood (late Paul Monte) Dianne (DeeDee) Stevenson and her husband Bruce of Summerland B.C. and Joyce Spies and her husband Buck Ross of Moorefield and their families to carry on. Survived by many nieces and nephews who will miss her generosity and quirky sense of humour. Predeceased by her parents, Jack (1988) and Bessie (2000) and brother Butch (2021). She passed away at home, as she wished. Cremation has taken place. In Donna’s memory, consider taking a moment to call an old friend, share a cup of tea, take a deep breath and enjoy the sunset.
