SLOTBOOM, Peter

Peter left us peacefully at his daughter’s home, surrounded by his family at his side Friday, December 10, 2021 in his 87th year. Peter was the loving husband to Helen Slotboom for almost 58 years. The most loving and caring father to Evelyn (Don) Sanders, David (Wendy) Slotboom. Opa to Jamie, Dustin, Ty, Chase, Kolten, Sean, (Kelly) Melissa (Ryan) and great Opa to Adelyn, Brian and Olivia. He held a special place in his heart for Maureen and her children Jake and Samantha. It is difficult to summarize in a few words what a special kind of man Peter was. He could see beauty in everything and could equally create beauty in the many creative hobbies and interest he had. He lived a full and happy life of many travels, shared with his wife, loved his job at the U of G as a heavy equipment operator for 24 years where he was fondly known as “Whiskers”. Most importantly he cherished his family. He would always remind us that he would walk through fire for us. That sentiment would return to him by his family that loved him that much as well. He now has gone to the welcoming, open arms of God. May his light shine bright always. A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 1:30pm. A tree will be planted in memory of Peter Slotboom in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
