MOUNT FOREST – The Mount Forest Patriots have moved on to the divisional semi-finals after eliminating the Walkerton Hawks four games straight in Provincial Junior Hockey League action.
After dominating the scoresheet for the first two-games of the Pollock Division series the Patriots won a 3-2 squeaker in a March 16 home contest. Mark Aljoe, Caleb Cribbin and Christopher Prucha scored for Mount Forest. Benjamin Tenhag picked up a pair of assists. Brayden Fischer scored both Walkerton goals.
The Patriots finished off the series with a 5-3 road win on March 18.
Coulter Hayden led the scoring for the Pats with a goal and two assists. Aljoe, Jared Rowe, Kobe Roe, Benjamin Demoe and Calan Tanzi-Foshay also scored for Mount Forest.
Goalie Kyle Rivers faced 59 shots in the win while the Patriots fired 63 pucks at Hawk’s netminder Michael Brassor.
Semi-final schedule
Mount Forest now faces the Mitchell Hawks in a series that was to open on March 23 in Mitchell.
Next action is set for March 26 at 8pm in Mount Forest, followed by a Sunday tilt at 2pm in Michell. Game four is slated for March 30 at 8:30pm in Mitchell.
