CENTRE WELLINGTON – CW Neighbourhood Grants is a simple yet powerful idea: support resident-led community building, encourage neighbours to connect, and create a sense of belonging in our community.
“It’s an exciting time to live in Centre Wellington,” stated Mayor Kelly Linton in a press release.
“It’s time to get out and safely interact with our neighbours once again.”
Linton said during the pandemic neighbourhoods have changed, new families have moved into the community and there hasn’t been the opportunity to connect with current neighbours.
“This grant will support residents that have great ideas to bring citizens together and make our neighbourhoods vibrant,” he said.
The one-year pilot project will make five $1,000 grants available to resident-led groups. Neighbourhood events must be held between June and December this year and be free to attend and participate in.
Applicants will receive half of the grant dollars when a grant is approved, and be required to show all receipts and final costs prior to receiving the remaining balance.
The township has flagged several key dates:
– March 15, online applications launch;
– April 22, grant closes;
– May 4, grants brought to the Community Services Advisory Committee for review; and
– May 30, council will approve final grant applications.
