MINTO – CAO Derrick Thomson is leaving the Town of Minto to accept a new post with the County of Bruce.
On March 14 the town announced plans to begin recruitment for a new chief administrative officer as Thomson announced his departure.
His appointment as CAO for Bruce County is effective April 18.
“On behalf of the entire town, I would like to thank CAO Thomson for his public service and guiding leadership that saw us through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic,” stated Minto Mayor George Bridge in a press release.
“Derrick has helped build a foundation of modernization and good governance. We wish Derrick well in his new position.”
Thomson joined Minto staff in January of 2020. Prior to that he held CAO positions with the City of Guelph and the Township of West Lincoln.
“He has successfully guided the municipality through the pandemic while continuing to enhance essential services through initiatives related to fiscal responsibility, community growth, and economic development,” Minto officials state.
Thomson thanked his colleagues at the Town of Minto.
“It has been a privilege to work with this motivated council and staff supporting a strong community through these challenging times,” he stated.
“Thank you also to the business community and residents.
“Under Minto’s department head team, I see continued success and a bright future.”
