HILLSBURGH – Hillsburgh’s Century Church Theatre will be presenting Jack of Diamonds for the month of March.
Written by Marcia Kash and Douglas E. Hughes, the show will run at the theatre from March 6 to 20.
Evening shows will be held March 12, 18 and 19 at 8pm and matinees will be held March 6, 13 and 20 at 2:30pm. Tickets are $20.
“Eccentric retirement-home residents fall victims to a trickster and find creative and hilarious ways to exact revenge and recoup their losses,” the shows summary reads.
Jack of Diamonds, directed by Peter King, takes place in an upscale retirement home.
Jack Newman, played by Mike Robins, enjoys the company of three very independent ladies, played by Jen Massicotte, Louise Burns and Connie McTaggart.
Life is good for the retirees, until it isn’t. Financial problems mean that all of them may have to leave their comfortable facility that they consider home.
“The lengths that our group goes to make for many hilarious situations,” theatre officials say.
“Jack’s knowledge and experience with diamonds means that he is very much in demand as they try to figure out how to save the day.”
The facility is controlled by the tough and caustic Nurse Harper, played by Julie Goudie.
The play also features a villain, played by Mclean Edwards.
“This is the type of funny and entertaining play that we all need after the past two years,” officials say.
Century Church Theatre follows current health regulations and its audience size is limited to provincial guidelines. Officials urge audiences to get their tickets while they can.
