ELLIOTT, Barbara Ann

Passed away at the Palmerston District Hospital with her children at her side on January 29, 2022 at the age of 93. She was born in the Palmerston Hospital in 1928. Barb was predeceased by her husband, Ken Elliott, in 2002. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Earle and Viola Wildfang of Moorefield and the older sister of Virginia (Bill) Hammill and Douglas (Evelyn) Wildfang. Barb will also be greatly missed by her children, Tim Elliott (Brenda) of Port Elgin and Holley Petkovic (Mike) of Moorefield, 4 grandchildren Ken (Ashleigh), Peter (Cybil), Kyle (Sarah), Jenna (Mike) and great grandchildren Emma, Jaimie, Nash and Elin. Music was a large part of Barb’s life. Her talent was recognized early in her life when she won gold medals for her violin playing at the Stratford Music Festivals. She also played the piano very well for some dance bands in her early years and her entertaining violin duets and piano/organ duets at the Palmerston United Church. Barb was well known as a music teacher in area schools for many years, as well as teaching private violin and piano lessons from her home. In past Christmas seasons, she played Christmas music on the piano for the residents of Royal Terrace where she lived the last couple of years. Barb and Ken moved to Palmerston in 1960 from Arthur when they purchased the local dairy business. Barb was active in the community participating in the United Church Womens Organization, the Hospital Auxiliary and for many years playing O Canada at the start of the Lions Club meetings when Ken was an active member. Owing to the pandemic and Barb’s wishes, cremation has taken place and Barb will be interred at Bethesda Community Cemetery in Moorefield at a private family graveside service later in the spring. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Palmerston District Hospital Memorial Fund would be appreciated by the family.

Music speaks what cannot be expressed,
Soothes the mind and gives it rest,
Heals the heart and makes it whole,
Flows from heaven to the soul.
